The Five Great "Solas":
Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, Sola Fide and Soli Deo Gloria
Sola Scriptura
(Scripture alone)
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, without error, truthful in all it proposes. It is the revelation of God's will and plan, and it alone is the final authority in matters of belief and practice.
Sola Gratia (Grace alone)
We believe that all men are born sinners alienated from God. God, out of His sheer kindness and mercy, saves those He elects to salvation. Salvation is not earned by our good deeds or righteous actions, but come as unmerited favor to those who trust in Christ.
We believe that not only is God's grace necessary to begin the Christian life (regeneration) but that it is necessary to continue in faith. God's empowering grace allows the Christian to persevere to the end.
Solus Christus
(Christ alone)
We believe that Jesus Christ alone provides forgiveness of sins. He brings us into right relations to God. Christ, through His perfect obedience to God's law and His atoning death on the cross, paid for the sins of His people and removed God's wrath that was upon them. We now stand in His perfect righteousness acceptable to God. Only through Christ can eternal life be found. Those without Christ are without hope.
Sola Fide
(Faith alone)
We believe that Christ's work of justifying (declaring us righteous) sinners comes to us only through the means of faith. Salvation must be received as a free gift from God. Biblical faith is assurance of, reliance upon, leaning on, and trusting in all that God is and has done for us in Jesus Christ.
Soli Deo Gloria
(To the glory of God alone)
We believe that salvation is the work of God from start to finish. Because of this, God and God alone deserves all the glory and praise and thanks for what He has done. We believe that we glorify God the most when we trust Him completely and find our greatest joy in His Son Jesus Christ.
